A nonworking GFCI outlet needed electrical diagnosis
The Watersound customer reported that a GFCI outlet was not working. Ground-fault circuit interrupter receptacles include TEST and RESET controls and are designed to interrupt power when they detect a current imbalance that may indicate a ground fault.
The licensed electrician evaluated the outlet and diagnosed the GFCI device as failed. Because one GFCI receptacle can provide downstream protection to other correctly wired outlets, a failed device may affect more than the single receptacle where the problem is first noticed.
GFCI devices monitor current balance and quickly interrupt power when a ground fault is detected, helping reduce the risk of severe electric shock.
The failed GFCI was replaced and the outlets were checked
The electrician shut off power before removing the failed device and installing the replacement GFCI outlet. After the work was complete, power was restored and the remaining outlets in the home were checked. The supplied proof states that all were working properly.
The original project photo shows the replacement receptacle installed in the wall plate with its green status indicator illuminated. The full proof graphic is also preserved so the customer concern, diagnosis, completed repair, and safety benefits remain together in one project record.
