The existing RPZ assembly had visibly deteriorated
The before photo documents an exterior reduced-pressure-zone backflow preventer with badly deteriorated insulation and weathered components. An RPZ assembly is designed to help stop potentially contaminated water from reversing into the protected water supply.
Because backflow protection is safety-related plumbing equipment, selection, installation, testing, and maintenance should follow the applicable local requirements and the assembly manufacturer’s instructions.
A new RPZ preventer was connected and protected to restore a serviceable water-supply protection assembly at the Destin property.
A new brass backflow preventer was installed
The failed assembly was removed and a new brass RPZ backflow preventer was connected between the existing risers. The installation photo shows the new unit, isolation valves, test cocks, and attached product documentation before the final protective wrap was applied.
The completed photo shows the assembly insulated and weather-protected while leaving the required operating points accessible. Routine inspection and required testing remain important after replacement.
